I grew up in private school singing tons of hymns, but none of them had meaning until later in life. I realized that most have profound theology in them and most have a lot of insight. I thought of this song the other day and can't get it out of my head (not that I want to because it is one of my favorite hymns). I just love the lyrics:

What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

O precious is the flow
that makes me white as snow;
no other fount I know;
nothing but the blood of Jesus.

This is all my hope and peace:
nothing but the blood of Jesus.
This is all my righteousness:
nothing but the blood of Jesus.
